PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY

We are looking for an enthusiastic and technically skilful individual with a can-do attitude to join our HTS team as a Screening and Automation Scientist.  The post-holder will support the primary high-throughput compound screening activities and the downstream screening pipeline at MoA Technology. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone wishing to start or to continue a career in industry in which their contribution will be important to achieve sustainable global food production.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

·      Execute manual and/or automated in vivo HTS assays for the identification of molecules with herbicidal activity.

·      Conduct compound screening and profiling utilizing state-of-the art imaging tools.

·       Use analytical tools for image processing, analysis, quantification, and interactive image visualization from high throughput data sets to identify novel herbicide mode of action.

·       Advise and support cross-functional projects on quantitative analysis of image data.

·       Assist in running a busy HTS laboratory.

·       Provide support to users of HTS instrumentation.

·       Maintain accurate and timely records of laboratory work (e.g., electronic lab notebooks).

·       Clearly communicate results, successes, and issues.

·       Contribute to reports, SOPs, risk assessments, lab meetings, etc.

·       Work collaboratively across multi disciplinary teams.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Required

·       Experience in image data analysis gained within a biological discipline using commercial or open-source software packages.

·       Experience in phenotypic and/or high through put screening.

·      BSc /MSc dependent upon experience.

 

Desirable

·      Experience in handling large datasets and automated workflows.

·      Experience in Batch and parsing script writing.

·      R and Python writing skills

·      Ability to work both independently and collaboratively. 

·      Ability to prioritize project timelines and daily activities across multiple projects.

·       Effective communication skills both in writing and at meetings with both specialists and non-specialists.
