The Role

Position type: Permanent full-time - 37.5 hours per week

Salary: Competitive

Location: The Oxford Science Park, Oxford

Required qualifications and experience:

The post-holder will have:

·      BSc degree in biology or plant science

·      At least 1 years’ experience in the scientific biology field working in a laboratory setting

·      Experience in working directly with plants is essential

·      Awareness of growth and care requirements of plant material in the laboratory.

·      Computer literate with excellent communication skills.

·      Excellent organisational skills


It will be desirable for the post-holder to have

·      MSc in biology or plant science

·      Experience in statistically analysis large data sets

·      Experience working with Microsoft Teams, Zoom

·      A good knowledge of lab health and safety

Role and responsibilities

We are looking for a highly motivated Plant Scientist to provide support for our weed validation operations.

You will be instrumental to organizational success by ensuring data production and experimental innovation as part of the weedvalidation team.

You will be responsible for developing weed validation assays, analysing weed validation datasets and conducting experiments.

We are seeking individuals who strive to deliver tangible impact through organized, dedicated and conscientious working.


•   You will be required to undertake a full range of experimental activities such as

o  Designing new weed validation experimental procedures

o  Weed validation experimental set up

o  Assessing experiments

o  Photo capturing

o  Data entry and upload

o  Plant growth maintenance in the laboratory

o  Experimental workflow delivery support

•        Analysing weed validation data sets

•        Literature searching

•        Responsibility for ensuring lab HSE standards are adhered to.

•        This role is not restricted to the above and encompasses any support activities that facilitate the smooth running of the laboratory-based operations.

•        As the company grows, your role could vary as required to support further operational and support functions

  • Live in the Oxford area and have means to commute. Candidates who do not currently live in the Oxford area should be able to provide evidence that they can relocate in a timely and safely manner.
  • Work flexible hours and be opened to work weekends, early mornings (~7:00-9:00) or evenings (~17:00-22:00), in order to maintain social distancing. As the Government relaxes safe social distancing rules and allows a return to normal working practices we will also revert to our normal working arrangements (Mon-Fri, 9am -5pm).
