PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY

As a Fellow of Discovery Chemistry, you will be is responsible for playing a pivotal role the in execution of discovery strategy that maximizes the value of moa’s platforms. You will provide mentorship and scientific direction to the group and be responsible for the technical quality of the research. You will develop and execute the scientific strategy for the group and will be responsible for communicating the results of the research to the senior leaders as well as being responsible for representing the group in cross-functional project teams. You will be an ambitious scientist with experience in leading and mentoring scientists Responsible for chemical optimization of herbicidal molecules in both lead generation and lead exploration projects.

Project management of multiple chemical areas to deliver a successful portfolio of herbicidal candidates.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES

  • Leadership responsibility for the growth & continued evolution of the moa chemistry team members
  • Accountable for executing and enhancing strategy within chemistry.
  • Encourage and promote a culture of innovation.
  • Responsible for motivating and inspiring diverse teams who are accountable for a broad range of activities.
  • Lead within the function and projects, and across the matrix,
  • Ensure data integrity and foster an environment of knowledge sharing throughout the discovery and development lifecycles.
  • Play an active role in developing relationships and engagement with academic collaborators and advisors.
  • Increase the visibility and external reputation of moa within the wider chemistry community.
  • Ensure that patents are filed and updated according to company policy.
  • Support the preparation of scientific
  • reports and manuscripts for publication.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Required

  • PhD in organic chemistry or equivalent academic/industrial experience in organic chemistry at an agrochemical, pharmaceutical or biotechnology company
  • Strong understanding of and credentials in herbicide chemistry
  • Excellent academic and/or industrial credentials
  • Significant experience of leading, developing and inspiring high performing teams and/or projects
  • Demonstrable successful track record in project leadership and delivery of high-quality candidates


Desirable

  • An existing, strong network within the external chemistry community
  • Strong grasp of related disciplines such as cell biology, analytical, intellectual property, glasshouse and field biology

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Required

  • Collaborative, strong relationship building skills with a high level of integrity.
  • Resilient and able to work effectively in a demanding and fast-paced environment.

Desirable

  • Technologically savvy, with a keen interest and evidence in driving value and building capability through automation and innovation.
  • A contributor / author of multiple scientific publications
