MoA Technology Limited (“MoA”) is a spin-out company from Oxford University's Plant Sciences Department. MoA Tech's in vivo herbicide discovery platforms are based on cutting-edge science in the fields of genetics, trait analysis and data analytics.  

The Role

Position type: Permanent full-time - 37.5 hours per week

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Location: BioEscalator, Innovation Building, Roosevelt Drive, Oxford, OX3 7FZ

Role and responsibilities:

1. Experimental work as part of the Research and Development Team

2. Deliver data produced to senior staff in a clear and organized manner. Encourage feedback on experiment execution

3. Extract high quality DNA/RNA from plant samples

4. Genotype plants and quantify gene expression

5. Assist senior staff with molecular cloning technical support

6. Work cooperatively within the Research and Development Team, share technical solutions, ideas and concepts to achieve stated goals

7. ontribute technical solutions, ideas and concepts to all projects within the company

8. Maintain good laboratory practices at all times

9. Maintain accurate records using corporate systems (e.g. electronic laboratory notebooks, QMS)

10. Contribute to reports, SOPs, risk assessments, presentations, reviews and summaries

11.Strictly follow SOPs and risk assessments

12. Keep up to date with relevant scientific and technical developments

13. The research technician’s role is varied and not restricted to the above and encompasses any activities that facilitate translational science and new scientific discoveries. The position may also be adjusted depending on experience

Candidate profile

Education & experience:

The job holder will be educated to degree level (or equivalent) in the life sciences. Have at least 3 years experience working in an biology laboratory or show a flare for scientific endeavours. Experience in molecular biology is essential. Working with plants is desirable but not essential.

9. Communicate and comprehend accurately, clearly and concisely in verbal and written English at a level required to perform the job as outlined

Selection criteria

Essential:

1. Experience of working in a biological research laboratory

2. Previous experience in molecular cloning

3. Ability to work co-operatively as part of a team

4. Ability to learn new methods and skills

5. Experience in recording and analysing data

6. Good communication skills

Desirable:

1. Previous experience in mutagenesis and screening for mutants

2. Previous experience of molecular biology techniques

3. Previous  experience of plant husbandry

Eligibility

Must be legally able to live and work in the UK
