Dr Nagma Khan is based at our Oxford HQ where she leads our project management team, making sure all the R&D programmes in our pipeline stay on track and on budget, and also personally managing the project to develop one of our most advanced novel modes of action.

What is your favourite plant?

Peonies (Paeonia)! Their short flowering season makes them even more special when they when they bloom in late spring each year. They also have a really long lifespan – the three varieties in my garden have lasted over a decade! – and bees love them too.

Dr Marcello Tortorici works in our Oxford labs and is in charge of Moa's Biochemistry platform, designing and developing in vitro assays to derisk known modes of action and to confirm or rule out new modes of action.

What is your favourite plant?

Rosemary (Salvia rosmarinus). It smells great, has beautiful flowers, is good with food and most of all, it reminds me of home in Sicily.

David Scott has worked at Moa since 2019, building the commercial strategy to take our products to market, and helping form new partnerships with owners of natural product libraries that may contain a future biological herbicide.

What is your favourite plant?

Echium. My wife and I love to grow these beautiful plants, such as this one grown from seed last year. They cope well with dry summers and are great for bees!

Work experience

In the summer term, we offer work experience placements to 15-17 year olds with an interest in a career in chemistry or biology. The placements are one week long and aim to give you an understanding of what it's like to be a scientist in a working research lab.  As places are very limited, we recommend applying in January or February of the year you wish to do work experience with us.     Please write to us at HR@moa-technology.com.

Sandwich placements (one year)

We offer a full time, 12 month industry placement every year to an undergraduate studying a relevant subject (chemical or biological sciences, genetics or data analytics) at a UK university.   The placement is based in our Oxford HQ and normally starts in August or September, after you have completed your second year of study.  You will receive a stipend, full training and become a valued contributor to our team and our ground-breaking research.   If you would like to find out more, please contact recruitment@moa-technology.com.  We recommend applying as early as possibly in your second year at university.  We regret we are not able to offer sandwich placements of less than 12 months in duration.

Summer internships

We occasionally offer paid summer internships (3-4 months long) to students at UK universities reading for a relevant degree (chemical or biological sciences, genetics or data analytics). Because of the training required, we regret we are unable to offer internships of less than 3 months.   If this is something you are interested in, please contact us at recruitment@moa-technology.com in January or February of the year you wish to undertake an internship.
